FINALLY!!!

OK so its been about 9 or 10 months since I last blogged. But don't worry its not because we haven't been doing anything to blog about, it's because we have been doing way too much. So I thought I would just give you a few highlights. So where to begin.
1- Jojo turned four and was King for a day. (Zac thought he needed a crown).

2- I got into making super rich chocolate cakes for awhile. (I think I made about 6. :}).

3- Zac turned 7 and had a great wonderful day.

4- Shane and I completed another semester of school. But turned around and started summer classes the very next week. (We were nuts.)
5- Sam turned 9 count it nine years old. (It just doesn't seem right. Yesterday he was just a baby.)

6- Shane and I celebrated our tenth anniversary. Yay! (Have we really been married that long.)
7- For the last day of school for the boys we had all the neighborhood kids over for breakfast lots of fun.

8- Shane was on the Dean's List for both Fall and Spring Semesters! (I always knew he was super smart!)
9- I finished my summer terms and decided to refinish my couches. Whew!

10- Sam recieved his Wolf in Cub scouts, very proud of him.
11- Shane finally talked me into going backpacking. He's been trying for years! It was fun and what a workout. The boys liked it but need a little toughening up. Next year we might even go for two nights!

12- Cousins week at Grandma Gillett's was a lot of fun and it was my turn to stay and help out. All I can say is I was exhausted when it was over.

13- Zac has discovered a wonderful talent. He excels at wrestling. He takes on his older brother and Wins, much to Sam's dismay. Zac has a great natural ability to know which way to tun and move to pin his opponent.
14- Our Calhoun Family reunion was so much fun! I can't believe that it had been almost 5years since I had seen some of my brothers and sisters. We had a great time floating the river and playing games. Can't wait to do it again.

15- Gillett family reunion, Shane and the boys had a great time, I wasn't able to go because of a class I had that started early. But they all had a great time.
16- School started again and we have been in high gear ever since. But have taken time out occaionally to go to a few football games. (Go Broncos!) And Shane took time out at thanksgiving break to go hunting.

17- In the four years that we have lived here in Boise we have had snow, but it usually was only a little or came during christmas break. However on December 1st we had the best snowstorm ever. It snowed overnight and ended up dumping about 6 inches of snow by noon. I know this doesn't seem like alot, to most of you but here in Boise it is. So Guess What Happened? We all got a SNOW DAY!!! I haven't had one of those since I was a kid in Rexburg. Loved it. We all went sledding, made an igloo, and a snowman. It was the best Snow Day ever.

18- Jojo lost his first tooth, what he's only four? Okay he's almost five, but still?!!

19- And Finally, at the end of next week, after three and a half years, I will finally Graduate. Mixed emotions. Can't wait to be done with school. Anyone need an Accountant?
20- Theres more, much more. But for today, this is us.

Hobbies!!!

I have a new hobby! I know, I know, I have too many already and no time to do them in. But here's the brilliance of my new hobby, I don't actually do anything. :) All I do is log on to Ana's Knock off Wood blog and dream and drool over all the things that "someday" I am going to make. First I am going to make the Farmhouse bed, and then maybe the Thomas Media Center, followed by the Cameron bookcases, and clip art rails, and maybe some side tables, and maybe even..... there are so many projects to choose from and she makes it look so easy. Yes I know, where will I find the time, and what about the cost? I'm thinking this summer maybe I need to have garage sale... Who am I kidding I need to finish refinishing the dining chairs I started last summer! Oh well, its fun to look, it's like window shopping. Here's to dreaming!

Imagine me and...ya

Joseph has developed in lots of ways and sometimes he seems to be 4 going on 16. However one of my most favorite things that he say's is "ya". SO when he is referring to you he will say ya. Here's a little example.
"Hey mom, imagine that me and ya are driving real fast and the cop doesn't pull ya over. Then he chased ya." (no I don't drive real fast but he wishes I would, and Zac is always telling me to slow down, Your speeding mom.)

We also moved Zac and Jojo into the same room, on a bunkbed. So today Jojo came to me after his nap and tells me that he needs to have his last room back because it was so special to him. How do you argue with that? Sorry kid but you get to share a room with your brother.

Lately it seems like there is always at least one person in thefamily who is sick. I was Zac's turn this last week. He woke up around midnight Saturday night with an ear ache. So we gave him some Motrin and he went back to sleep and woke up again at about 6:30. So off to the urgent care we go. Yup Doc I am not a paranoid parent, he really did have an ear ache, he had an ear infection. So now hopefully we are over all the bugs for a little while. Knock on wood, cross your fingers, and hold your breath. We need all the luck we can get.

Sam has been having a good year, and is really imporving on his reading. At the first of the year his teacher was telling me that his readng wasn't up to grade level, and he would need extra help, and that if he wasn't able to pass the Idaho reading assessment, they would encourage us to think about keeping him back. NO WAY. So we have encouraged, but not forced him to read more. It really is a struggle for him and is really frusterating. But about a month ago, his teacher sent home one of his testing papers that he does every week in his reading group. He had passed the set goal for the spring in speed and errors. Way To Go Sam! He also has found a book series that he really likes "Diary of a wimpy kid", and when I say he likes them, I really mean it. He spent 4 hours reading after school on Friday and 2 and a half more on saturday to finish it up. WOW! I was just amazed. And am now wondering "Where can I find more of these kinds of books?"

As for Shane and I all I can say is I am so grateful that it's the end of February and we only have nine more weeks of school for the semester. Amazing how time flies.

NEW YEARS POSTING CHALLENGE!
OK so I have not been very ...consistent with posting, or blogging, or whatever. Anyway, this is one (of many) New Years Resolutions, I am challenging myself and any of you who would like to take this on, to post at least twice a month (baby steps), the one rule for myself is that in every post I need to find at least one thing to be thankful for and share that with you. This is kind of my way of seeing all the many blessings in my life, despite feeling sometimes that I have more trials than blessings. Anyway, wish me luck!

First posting.

I am so blessed to have such wonderful children, no matter how much they drive me crazy and are always getting into things, making messes, finding new and inventive ways to destroy something. I am grateful that I have them, that they are always loving and I know that for all my complaining they really are great kids, I am so proud of them. I always hear from others how they think my boys are so well behaved, I love hearing that. They know when to behave when it counts, and really what mom could ask for more?
